At this time, Luther Psychiatry is a self-pay private practice. Payment is due at the time of service and can be made by credit card, debit card or HSA/ FSA card.

Currently, Luther Psychiatry is considered out-of-network with insurance companies. Many clients receive a partial reimbursement from their insurance provider once their deductible has been met.

If your plan includes out-of network mental health benefits, you may be reimbursed for a portion (often around 60-80%) of session costs.

After each visit, you can receive a superbill - a detailed receipt you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.

To determine your Out of Network benefits contact your insurance company to learn:

• Do you have out of network coverage for mental health benefits?

• What is your deductible amount?

• What is your reimbursement rate?

• How many sessions per calendar year does your plan cover?

• Is there a limit on how much your provider will pay per session?

Yes! Many clients use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for care. I can provide detailed receipts to support your reimbursement.

1. Personalized, Unhurried Care: Working outside of insurance networks allows me to provide care that isn’t restricted by time limits, rigid treatment requirements, or rushed visits. This means more time for thoughtful discussion, medication education, and truly collaborative care.

2. Privacy and Confidentiality: Insurance companies can request access to session notes and diagnoses for authorization or audits. As an out-of-network provider, I don’t share this level of personal detail, protecting your privacy and medical information.

3. Ethical, Sustainable Practice: Insurance reimbursement rates for psychiatric care have remained stagnant for decades, often below fair market value. Remaining independent allows me to dedicate time and care to each individual rather than managing excessive administrative burdens or volume pressures.

4. Time Savings and Flexibility: By not spending hours on insurance paperwork and authorization requests, I can devote that time to direct patient care, continued education, and staying accessible for your needs between visits.

Luther Psychiatry recognizes that financial circumstances can vary, and access to care should not be out of reach because of cost.

• A limited number of reduced-fee appointments are available for clients experiencing financial hardship.

• Sliding-scale rates are determined on an individual basis and may range from $200–$250 for initial evaluations and $100–$125 for follow-up visits, depending on availability.

If you would like to be considered for a sliding-scale rate, please mention this during your consultation or in your initial inquiry.

All requests are handled with respect and confidentiality.

• There is no charge for canceled appointments as long as you cancel at least 24 business hours before the scheduled time of your session. For example, if your session is on a Monday, your cancellation day is Thursday.

• However, you will be responsible for paying the full fee for any session canceled less than 24 business hours before your scheduled appointment.

• If this does occur, I will always try to offer you an alternative appointment that same week, if I have a slot available, so you can avoid having to pay for a session you did not have.

The No Surprises Act targets price transparency from health care providers, including decreasing the chances of acquiring a “surprise” medical/mental health bill.

As of January 1st, 2022, health care providers are required by law to issue a Good Faith Estimate to clients and their families.

Your rights include:

• The right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services prior to the care or item being delivered. This may include items such as, medical or diagnostic tests, prescription drugs, equipment, or hospital fees.

• If you receive a medical bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimated amount, you may dispute the bill.
